I have just completed reading “Rise of the Red Shadow”. What a wonderful read. This is a perfect prequel to the Book of Deacon series. I found I was reluctant to put this book down. I truly enjoyed reading about Lains training and found it to be quite accurate to a real world counterpart that I can only assume he was modeled after. I was drawn into the world, hearing, seeing, smelling and feeling all that Lain experienced. It is my earnest hope that this story does not end there but continues until his fateful meeting with Myranda.
If you haven’t read this and you are a fan of Mr. Lallos work, do not miss this opportunity, you will not be disappointed.

What inspired you to write the Book of Deacon series? I can’t wait to finish it and I had a few late nights reading the first two. I’m a huge bookworm and I have trouble putting your books down.
Also, on a completely random note, are you Scottish? You look Scottish…

Hi. I was inspired to write The Book of Deacon when my friends and I played a game called Dragon Warrior for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in grammar school. We then proceeded to act out all sorts of silly stories based on the game’s very generic plot. Those ideas grew and changed in my head for a few years, then I wrote the best of them, or at least my favorites, as The Book of Deacon.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the trilogy! To my knowledge, I’m not Scottish. I’m mostly Italian, with a healthy dose of Irish and German along with a smattering of Norwegian and a few others. I suppose there could be some Scottish mixed in along the line, but it would be deep in the family tree.

    Thanks for the comment!
